The Paradox of Our Age
Here it is the result of 2 weeks of work! I’m a big fan of ZenPencils.com and wanted to give one of my favorite quotes a comic strip. In hindsight, next time I’ll aim for a shorter quote! This is all personal enterpretation, as there are a millions ways to go from words. I think the end was what I least expected out of myself because I first interpreted
“It’s a time when there is much in the window, but nothing in the room.”
to mean we are always looking for some outward thing that we feel is better and will fulfill us, in the end I decided to make a visual metaphor and turned desire into a literal jail where we can potentially land ourselves when we want too much.

Teaser
Purposely terrible screen shot of the comic I’m working on! Proof of progress and an excuse for it’s not being done on time… Final piece up SOON!

Quick Update
Working on a larger project, so unfortunately no new work posted this week! Here’s as best a preview as I can give. Hoping to get it done by next weekend!

Slanderia
Experimented with textures and shading this time around. The final stays true to the last sketch. Not sure if the final holds true to the concept I had in mind. Maybe a redo in the future? Not a bad way to pass the time anyhow!

Sketch #2 - A rework of Sunday’s preview.
Much less symmetrical, I tried for a more engaging angle. I kept most of the textures and patterns. Gave the plant gnarly teeth instead of the soft chompers I had drawn up before in order to make the plant more menacing! Added some plant “tentacles.” Also, if you noticed, decided to leave some of the detail in blue which means once I convert the sketch to my final unblue-print they will disappear, but no worries, they’ll be back!
Final work up on Friday!

PREVIEW
Preliminary sketch for next week’s drawing “Slanderia”
Drop Dead Gorgeous
In this final digitally polished version, the major change was a decision to nix the hand holding the cigarette, I wasn’t satisfied with the rendering of it and felt the area was better left to textual possibilities!
Really satisfied with the results of this old sketchbook idea!
